Curly was brought up in the City of Oxford, and when he was a child he lived close to the Pitt Rivers Museum where he would often visit to see one of the most interesting and comprehensive ethnographic collections in the world. He could see the incredible architecture of the building from his dining room table. And was facinated by the Maori Heads that used to be on display. Curly began tattooing in 1993 after drawing several design that he wanted tattooed upon himself, and soon several of his friends were asking Curly to tattoo them also. Seeing his own artwork on other people gave Curly a buzz, and now Curly has tattooed at least 75% of his own body. Curly was very fortunate in meeting the great Alex Binnie at the “Into You Studio” in London. And Curly enjoyed working with Alex in for 6 years. At the dawn of the New Millennium, Curly decided that it was time for a change, and is now working at the Tattoo Club of Great Britain's Studio in the Cowley Road, Oxford. Curly is now doing more traditional work as well as the Tribal and Abstract work that he enjoyed doing in London. The change of studio has given Curly an opportunity to do more varied styles of work. This is just a small sample from Curly's portfolio:
